She wasn’t on her best behavior, but Charlie was trying to do her a solid. There was a fragile little girl inside – but seen only when she thought no one was looking.
I had one moment to chat with her – and I asked about her performance in Robert Altman’s final film. I mentioned that, in my humble opinion, I thought she had done a very good job in that one — but more than that, I wondered if she had found a muse in the late director. A sadness mixed with sweet memories flashed through her — yes, she had.
