Greetings over your interweb devices

“Happiness is being alone every now and then.
And happiness is coming home again
Happiness is morning and evening
Daytime and nighttime too.
For happiness is anyone and anything at all
That’s loved by you.”

A little departure today, as I invoke birthday privilege to celebrate both my grandfather and me (say, that’s a snappy lyric, too).  As you may have guessed my Papou is the one with the sly grin and the cup of coffee, and I am the recently arrived bundle of joy cradled in my grandmother’s arms (as such, it was a little tough for me to have taken the picture as well).

I post this at midnight between the 23rd and 24th — the former his birthday, and the latter mine.  Apropos, as he passed on just as his birthday turned to mine, when I was turning seven.   I didn’t get to know him for long, but I remember his wonderful meals and I do think my cooking skills came from him — though I didn’t really get the gardening gene.

He lives on in my heart and these wonderful pictures.

Yassou!
