Please let me hear you say that you will
Say you will.”
I just learned that we lost the gifted polymath, Jonathan Miller, this last week.
If you are unfamiliar with his vast body of work — from his comedy work with Peter Cook, Dudley Moore, and Alan Bennet during his days in “Beyond the Fringe;” to his daring stagings of opera and classic plays; to his work making accessible and challenging medical documentaries; to his actual work as a medical doctor — I urge you to seek out some of his obituaries for a brief overview of his amazing life.
When your curiosity is properly whet, move on to one of his fine books or seek out one of his interviews with Dick Cavett on YouTube.
Though I never had the honor of meeting him in person — he has been an influence and inspiration since I first discovered his works in the 1980s —
“Now cracks a noble heart.
Good night, sweet prince,
And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest”
