On this day, one hundred years ago, a treaty was signed to end hostilities in WW I. To honor that agreement, France began an observance known as Armistice Day. Though that was once thought to be “The War to End War,” many men and women have since been called upon to enter battle in the service of their nation. Here in the US, Armistice Day became All Veterans Day (or now just Veterans Day) and we salute those who have served in all branches of the military and sincerely thank them for their service.
My father,W.T. Waugh, was one who heard the call and bravely fought in the South Pacific during WW II. Let us mark his service and all those who have worn and still do wear the uniform to preserve and defend our country and pray they will never be called upon to do so in vain.
