Greetings over your interweb devices
“Let me tell you ’bout some friends I know
They’re kinda crazy but you’ll dig the show
They can party ’till the break of dawn
at Delta Chi you can’t go wrong
Otter, he’s the ladies man
Every girl falls into his hands
Boon and Katy playing “Cat and Mouse”
and Mrs. Wormer, she’s the queen of the
ANIMAL HOUSE
ANIMAL HOUSE
ANIMAL HOUSE.”
I’d worked with Martin Mull on a few occasions, and I’d met a couple of the original SNL cast members (and even worked with one). Just a few few of my “pinch me, I might be dreaming” career moments. Especially in my college years, their humor really struck my funny bone and left a deep impression.
During those same college years, Universal released a film called “Animal House.” Granted, it wasn’t exactly highbrow comedy, but it was pretty funny — and had a big influence on me and on films to come. Throughout my career, not only had I never worked with any of the stars who appeared in that film, but had yet to meet any of them — until I worked on this pilot, and with Peter Reigert. The fact of the matter is that he has done many other projects in film and television, and especially the theatre — and “Animal House” is probably the thing he’d prefer least to be known for, and, of course, the thing he gets asked about the most. He was nonetheless wonderful, gracious, and had every ounce of talent I suspected he did — and he even talked about the film, a little. Another bucket list item checked.
Come to think of it, I’ve still yet to meet a “Python.”
