I got up early this morning to watch the House Judiciary committee hearings –– there is way too much grandstanding – from both sides of the aisle – and the stupid five minute rule is NOT helping.
These are serious issues, and I am in no way a fan of Attorney General Barr or the tactics of the DOJ — but there are a lot of speeches being made and precious little exploration and discussion of the facts. I have to say that I preferred the uninterrupted 30 minute period of questioning to open used in some of the other hearings — particularly with actual lawyers leading the inquiries to at least get a realistic start for the proceedings (and yes, I know that this is NOT a court of law).
[NB: the term ANTIFA refers to a philosophy (of anti-fascism), much like anti-Communism. It is not an actual group and thus can’t be investigated or arrested and all inferences otherwise make no sense. One can agree or disagree with the position of such a philosophy or more specifically methods used in the name of those beliefs, but much like being either pro-choice or pro-life it is a belief, not an organization.]
