Though two episodes remained in the series order, during this set of introductions, the cast was beginning a fond goodbye. For over sixty episodes, they began every show waving to their assembled fans assembled in front of this, the main hotel lobby set. By morning the furnishings would be returned to prop and storage houses, the walls struck and retained to be transformed into future sets, and construction would begin for the centerpiece of the spinoff series, set on an ocean liner (and to be introduced in the final episode of the outgoing show). Additionally, two of the six central cast members would soon move on to other projects (though each would briefly return for a guest shot “on deck”).
